HAVEN OF MONSTERS, ANGELS DARE NOT!

“Happy Birthday little Angel!”,He exclaimed,
words losing  their splendour when He saw her face.
Were these the eyes of His dear one He wondered,
since, of joy, they had no trace.
“What is the matter dear one, are you unwell, perhaps tired,
Or are you enraged ‘cause of that one angel I fired??
Perchance wondering what your birthday present would be,
But do not fret little girl ‘cause you see...
I’ve got the one thing you wished you’d got
A chance to live with the human lot
on their earth, or if rightly said- mine,
a chance to live and a chance to shine.”

“ Oh no Dear Father, Oh no please don’t!
I value my bliss and the stakes are too high.
No longer, dear Father, is this the earth You owned,
It’s an abyss of monsters and villains, deceit and lie!
Believe me Father , that’s what they do,
Oh Heavens! Dear God, have You indeed got no clue??
It’s no longer a benign sanctuary for women, let alone a naive angel like me.
Everyday  they’re bruised, they’re hit, they’re ‘bused, everyday I see...
Everyday they fight, they cry, they scream, they screech, everyday I see...
Everyday they get a death worse than death itself ,
everyday I see...
Oh so dear Father, how can this world be for me?
Give me, if you may, a cute little baby unicorn, that certainly would suffice,
Anything but the risk of an earth life will do, as is easy to surmise.
Oh what a glorious world it once was..!
Its little wonders making us do the usual ‘oh’s and ‘awe’s,
The rest of the angels as well as me, Earth was where we’d aspired to be,
We’d conceived that won’t waver no matter what we got to see
Now, though, a gift as such is so frightening,
a flower instead will keep me satisfied,
But please Oh God, make no mentions of such ill fortune...
 for I will be petrified!
‘Cause Oh Father,
It’s no longer a benign sanctuary for women, let alone a naive angel like me
Everyday they get a death worse than death itself ,
.
.
.
Everyday I see.

THE LITTLE PROMETHEUS

Abhimanyu Raisingh had always been a ruthless go- getter, the only detail further to be mentioned is, if he could not get them, he snatched them away, “Chuck Bass” being his idol and inspiration, the statement claiming him to be an egomaniac would be devoid of any hyperbole usage. Since childhood, he’s always aspired and endeavoured to achieve the best. He was merely 17 years old, but his intellect was much beyond that. Calling him a full-time villain would be erronious, he simply had some villainous traits which he utilised only when required. Till now, he had always achieved everything that he desired for i.e. everything that came under the tag: “the best”. One such thing was the position of the head boy of VGS, one of the most prestigious schools in the entire nation. From the time he was 10, he had been preparing for it.  Establishing himself as able, blameless and proficient in the eyes of all the teachers, procuring straight As in all the fields , offering to carry the whopping cluster of books when he came across Mrs.Arora getting wearied in an attempt to make it to her faculty room, facing the books and her dwindling strength due to old age as the impediments. The list is crudely unceasing. Yet, all these efforts, he later got to know, had become downright otiose. One “fine” day he became acquainted with the recent vicissitudes in the decision making procedure for selecting the headboy and  it whacked his heart with no less vigor than the Great Tsunami itself. As it now happened to be, the head boy was to be selected by the student council members. It would be no surprise to know that amidst his crest in establishing the reputation of being the “best” in front of all the teachers, he seldom made an attempt to form bonds with the fellow students. Now his mission was to sculpt the status quo in such a way that the majority of the students in the student council namely Raghav , Kabir, Latika, Aman and finally Ayaan voted for him. Obviously it would be too late to bring into being any ties of camaraderie now so he decided employ, what can be called, his forte – the modus operandi of manipulation. Just like the protagonists of Shakespeare’s novels, all of these “too good” students had some or the other black spot in their character . It took Abhimanyu no time at all to find them out. Raghav had a very bad habit of smoking and a very very good ability of concealing it from others, but that certainly did not work with Abhimanyu.  He promised Raghav that he’ll  never ever speak of it in front of others or spoil his good boy image if he voted for him in turn. He replicated the same process with Kabir , with the only discrepancy of the weapon being alcohol instead of cigarettes.  He was astonished at the ease he was feeling while doing all this, wondering at the same time : isn’t this supposed to be hard? Latika knew him very well and had always detested him from the beginning so he decided to forget about her and focus on the other two.  He had seized 2 votes till now, he certainly could not vote for himself, so now he had a week left to conquer at least one more vote. This would authenticate his success. Aman and Ayaan were best friends, moreover, none of them had any sort of material flaws  that he could exploit, so he decided to manipulate  their feelings instead. For this he “used” his so- called friend , more appropriately described by the hindi term-  “chamcha”. They decided to use the same old trick and started chattering loudly exactly when they were sure Aman could hear them. Aman was not the type of person who approved of the habit of eavesdropping, but when two people blabbered  loud enough for you to hear without any intention to lower down their voice, and on top of that talked about your own best friend, what else would you do?  Hence he listened. Abhimanyu carried on.... “... and he even indirectly asked me to vote for him. I thought he might want me to vote for that other chap, you know, his best friend. But I suppose friendship changes when two best friends aim for the same thing. Anyways, I’ve heard he has convinced the other 4 to vote for him as well. I feel really bad for his friend, I think I’d rather vote for him, at least he is not roaming around asking people to vote for him, but don’t tell anyone. I don’t want to be called a chatterbox spreading secrets around.” He noticed that Aman was disappointed. He decided to initiate a flame on the other side as well before this side decided to have a confrontation so he repeated the same process with Ayaan. Soon came the news of their supposed argument, he had concluded that perhaps they had a fight since they had stopped talking to each other. Yet, he definitely didn’t presume that this would be adequate  to complete the job, since he was well cognizant of the fact that they were no fools. He knew such petty quarrelss won’t last long or make much difference. But it happened otherwise, just one day was left and they had not yet reconciled with each other. Abhimanyu had certainly not expected this from them, but then again, what was there to lose anyway. Finally the day came, the ultimate finale, and Voila, everything went exactly the way he expected, if not better. 4 votes were on his favour. He finally achieved his goal. Now all he had to do was focus on his next and the most significant goal : get into IIT. He decided to start the preparation right away. But fate had other plans. His schedule had got so tight-packed that he couldn’t even get time to breath. His multitudinous duties as the headboy like the meetings, the reports, the functions, the tours he had to get involved in as the head of the council, the seminars, (etc , etc, etc) And his preparation for the 12 boards, the class works , the homework , the tutorials (etc, etc, etc) and his IIT crash course gave him no time at all to rest. Just one month had passed since his “new life” had commenced and he was already certain that he was looking forward to a year of hell.

MY TOP 5 TEEN DRAMAS

Over the years, the television industry has evolved rapidly and in fact, grown more and more popular. People are getting involved completely in these shows, discussing online ,making sites dedicated to their favorite characters, debating online, posting videos on Youtube, making Facebook pages ,etc ,etc ,etc. The most popular of these shows are the teen dramas. So today I have put up my TOP 5  teen dramas which are    MUST WATCH!! :)

5. THE LYING GAME

The series is about Emma , a foster child who finds out she has an identical twin sister, Sutton. The girls were separated at birth, with Sutton being adopted by wealthy parents and seemingly living an ideal life. Meeting prior to the pilot episode, Sutton talks Emma into stepping into her life for a few days while she pursues information about their birth mother in Los Angeles. Initially excited to do this favor for her sister, Emma soon learns that Sutton has many hidden secrets. Now Emma must continue to cover as Sutton continues her search for their birth mother.
MY VIEWS :
Well, as obvious as it is, when there are 'identical twins' in a show, there is bound to be a lot of chaos as well as drama. Lies, secrets, love, heartbreak, betrayal - TLG has got it all. Apart from that, we even get to explore the different personalities of the two protagonists, the good as well as the bad. A show worth watching!! :)

4. GOSSIP GIRL

The series mainly focuses on the chaotic and scandalous lives of the Upper East-Siders. The Strange thing is that even after the completion of 5 seasons already, the real identity of the main character is still unknown - GOSSIP GIRL. She knows everything and always keeps a check on everyone, if ever there is a secret being concealed, she takes the responsibility to immediately reveal it to everybody. Her main targets are our two protagonists - The "it girl" Serena Van Der Woodson and her best friend and occasional rival , the "queen bee" Blair Waldorf.

MY VIEWS :
If you love drama, this is a show you definitely should not miss. The scandals and the secrets are so innumerable that at times it gets me laughing. Yet, this show has a blend of everything : love, friendship, rivalry, competition and loyalty. A perfect show for full on entertainment, anything else needed is just a tub-full of popcorn. You can't help but love this show. A definite must - watch!! :)

3. THE SECRET CIRCLE

Following the death of her mother, Cassie Blake moves to Chance Harbor, Washington to live with her grandmother. Her attempts to adjust to the new town are crushed when five of her classmate reveal to Cassie that she comes from a long line of witches and is the final member of their coven; with her they are able to unlock the full extent of their powers. Soon she starts to explore her powers, but with consequences.
MY VIEWS :
This series is great with its own share of supernatural scenario. It really makes us explore the world of witches and their mind-boggling magical abilities. Not to mention, the various "written in star concepts" and the curses. This series can really give you the chill, it'll make you embrace the world of magic. Definitely a catch!! :)

2. PRETTY LITTLE LIARS

The series follows the lives of four teenage girls—Aria Montgomery, Emily Fields, Hanna Marin, and Spencer Hastings—whose clique falls apart after the disappearance of their leader, Alison DiLaurentis, until her body is found, and they join together again at her funeral - where they immediately begin receiving text messages from an anonymous source, "A", who threatens to expose their secrets—including long-hidden ones they thought only their close friend Alison knew. As the show continues, they are plagued by "A's" cruel schemes, ranging from worms instead of chinese food, to vicious attempts on their lives.
MY VIEWS :
I simply love this show...... and statistics show that so do millions of others. The plot is really  exciting, not to mention the amazing characters that make the show all the more interesting. The way A knows everything and is everywhere is sorta creepy and really gives you goosebumps. We can actually relate to the 4 girls and that's the best part. The unending mystery called A, the creepy messages, the secrets..... everything just adds to the craze. This is a definite catch!! :)

1. THE VAMPIRE DIARIES

The series follows the life of Elena Gilbert  a 17 year-old girl, who falls for a 162-year-old vampire named Stefan Salvatore .Their relationship becomes increasingly complicated as Stefan's vicious and malevolent older brother Damon Salvatore  returns with a plan to wreak havoc on the town and a revenge against his younger brother. Both brothers begin to show affection towards Elena, mainly because of her resemblance to their past love Katherine Pierce. It is revealed that Elena is a descendant of Katherine, who eventually returns with plans against the trio.
MY VIEWS :
The first season seemed a bit too much like any usual love story with a love triangle, apart from the supernatural element. But as the story progressed, it turned into something much more intense and interesting. The number of major characters has been increasing season by season and the unexpected twists and turns just keep us hooked up. Vampires, Werewolves, Witches, Hybrids, Ghosts---- TVD has got it all! Definitely worth a watch!! :)

Coffee Prince

COFFEE PRINCE

    SUMMARY: (courtesy of http://doramax264.com )

  • The life of Go Eun Chan (Yoon Eun Hye) is not easy; she works many jobs to pay off debts and even gave up her feminine image. Choi Han Kyul (Gong Yoo) is the heir of a big food company, but his grandmother wants him to settle down, so she arranged many dates for him. After Eun Chan bumped into Han Kyul and was mistaken for a boy, Han Kyul decided to hire Eun Chan to be his gay lover in order to avoid the arranged dates. Desperately in need of money, Eun Chan had no choice but to accept. Han Kyul’s grandmother also made Han Kyul in charge of a filthy coffee shop in danger of being bankrupt. Eun Chan begged to work at the coffee shop, and not long after, feelings start to spark, except, how would Han Kyul accept his “homosexuality?

  • MY REVIEW :
  • If you ask me to describe this entire series in one word then the first word entering my mind would be "CUTE". Yup, this is one of the cutest shows I've ever seen, and I'm not at all using the technique of exaggeration. At first I was reluctant to understand though, how can a girl manage to trick every second person into thinking that she is a guy?? But then I kinda got used to it. Moreover, I liked Han Kyul's character simply too much to dislike the show due to this surreal element. The way he looked at her, the way he got jealous when she talked to others with an extra-friendly tinge in attitude, the way he tried to make her his brother just for the sake of having her around, the way he secretly cried cursing himself for letting himself fall in love with a guy ( since he didn't know she was actually a girl). All in all, his character literally made me love the show even more. Yet, I can't deny the fact that the entire concept of this show seems a bit too unrealistic, but then again, that's what television is all about : experiencing and watching something that seems rather unlikely in the real world. :)
  • In case you feel like checking it out yourself, here's a site from where you can download the entire series quite conveniently.. < with ENGLISH SUBTITLES>

Korean Dramas!!

Strange as it seems, whenever the vacations are around the corner I always end up having a new crazy obsession which somehow helps me get through the boring lonesome days with great ease and collosal amount of enjoyment. So this vacation was no different, but my new pass time was : KOREAN DRAMAS!!!!!
It sounds crazy, trust me i know, but as unlikely as it seems I had tons n tons of fun n so did my mom <BONUS>. Ofcourse with the help of english subtitles. The strange thing is, its not that weird after all, I soon became cognizant of the fact that thousands of people across the globe are quite used to downloading and watching these shows, which has led to the creation of various websites who are specifically meant to help users get Asian Dramas WITH ENGLISH SUBTITLES. It makes it simply so convenient. So I've decided to write a review of three of my favourite dramas ..... <coming soon> ;)

DESIRE OF THE SOUL

As Muskaan curled herself up on her cozy warm bed and got ready to hear a story from her dad, he made himself  comfortable on the chair just beside her bed. Just like any other night, Muskaan was very excited, she loved to hear stories by her dad every night, they were always based on real life, she had got so used to them that now it had become extremely hard for her to sleep without her “goodnight story” , as she liked to call them. “Dad, time for my goodnight story….. J”, she said with her mellifluous voice filled with anticipation. “Yes my princess, daddy will tell you a story, and today daddy will tell you a very serious story, is daddy’s Muskaan responsible enough to understand it?”, asked her dad. “Muskaan is a big girl daddy! Tell me the story…please ,please ,please ,please!” exclaimed Muskaan, her sugary voice filled with innocence. Hence, to delight her, he began the story, or as we can say, their journey to another world……

“ Once there was a man named Vijay Dhanraj,  a very rigorous and upright man, he took life as a competition and made sure he would win in each and every level of this competition. He was tremendously ruthless and unwavering, it seemed as though it had become a custom for “success” to kiss his feet. He owned a construction company and expected his son, KD, as everybody called him, to join his business too and take the company to new heights. But that was far from the hue of prospect intended by KD. He was a striving go-getter, as his father, but not in the province of business. He wanted to become a fulltime writer, he had an entire file filled with his write-ups, which were indubitably magnificent. The status quo of his relationship with his dad was never quite hale, they were at loggerheads ‘cause of the same issue since years. He was resolved to become a writer but his dad, as predictable, disapproved. Often KD had endeavored the polite way of convincing his dad, for instance, by asking him to read some of  his write-ups, but he always got a parallel style of rejoinder – “I don’t have time to squander or fritter away. I can’t believe you are my son! Why can’t you be au fait with the fact that you’ve got obligations? This empire will soon need a new king and the prince is wasting his life doing rubbish! I didn’t educate you so that you would crumble and throw away all your responsibilities like a useless piece of paper. This life is a competition my son, where the only thing in your mind should be victory, victory and nothing else. You’ve got no scope in a profession like writing. Listen son, I’m your father, and I’m not naïve like you, I know what is good for you.” To which KD always replied – “Yes dad, you know what is good for me, but only I know what will make me happy. And writing makes me happy dad. It is the desire of my soul. Working with you might give me success, help me triumph, but it will never give me the satisfaction that I badly need. I am not running away from my responsibilities, I am just trying to fulfill them my own way. But you know what, it’s no use explaining all this to you, because to be candid, you never understand and I am sure that you will never ever understand.” The state of affairs was quite like this in their extravagant domicile, people often blathered about them that their family had got great opulence and accomplishments, but they didn’t possess the peace of mind which was a basic characteristic of a happy life. In all this chaos there was one person who was hurt the most, KD’s mother. And why not? When the two most important people in your life get hostile to each other’s happiness and have frequent recurring arguments day in and day out, how can you not be forlorn or dejected? If it were up to her to make the decision, maybe even she would have been perplexed. After all it would be enormously hard for any woman to choose between the expectations of her husband and the desires of her son.
As days passed by, the arguments between the father and the son started intensifying  rapidly. Both were completely depressed but the former had a very advantageous ability that never let anybody know how gloomy or hurt he was – the ability to conceal his emotions. He engrossed himself in his work and attempted to show others that he was not at all worried about anything. But on the other hand, KD tried to bring out his depression by smoking. He spent most of the day out of the house and whenever he returned he locked himself up in the four walls of his room. If anybody would’ve entered his room, he would’ve found the expensive silver ashtray filled with the overflowing bulk of used cigarettes and ash. Soon Mr.Dhanraj started to force his son to go to the construction sites and learn how to manage the work. As unlikely as it seemed, he was adamant that like every other walk of life, even this time he will be the winner in the end. Little did he remember that just like his dad, KD had got collosal amount of determination, or as we can call it, ‘stubbornness’.  One day as he was forcing his son to go to the construction site and arguing when getting an excuse as a response, Mrs.Dhanraj decided to intervene. As soon as she got a chance to have a private talk with her son, she said, “ Son, just go this time, for your mother’s sake. You are well cognizant that all these arguments and fights have taken away your mother’s peace of mind. Please my dear, go just this one time. I am not forcing you to join his company but at least you can go to the site for once. What’s there to lose anyway.” This time it was KD’s “Achilles’ heel” that had put forward just a small request. How could he deny? Thus he agreed to go but made it a point to make his father comprehend the fact that he was definitely not the reason why he had agreed upon his wish.
It was nearly evening when Mr.Dhanraj got a phone call from his assistant, which was the beginning of his journey of realization – “Hello sir, there is an emergency, KD was in the construction site when suddenly he started to cough like crazy and soon started having severe breathing problem. They took him to the Pure Dew Hospital, sorry sir but it seems serious….” That was it, Mr.Dhanraj could hear no more as his mind had drifted away. Emotions were overflowing in his each and every nerve, as if all his ability to control his emotions had gone on a strike.
“I’m sorry Mr.Vijay. KD has got COPD i.e. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, it is one of the incurable chronic diseases that is prevalent in the people who have a very bad habit of smoking. Simply anybody can’t get this disease  but seems like KD’s got a bit too less immunity. This disease starts with normal coughing and in the critical stage it causes severe breathing problem that can lead to……I’m sorry I have to say this, but the chances of survival for a long time is……not much, he already had the disease, but the air pollution in the construction site caused a flare-up in his condition. You shouldn’t have let him go there. I’m sorry sir , but we are trying our level best, there is a treatment that we can use, lets just hope it works for him, but as for now, sorry sir, but this is bad, and when I say bad, I mean real bad.”, said the doctor, his tone trying unsuccessfully to put in wraps the pain and tension in his mind. Mr.Dhanraj was mime, there was utter silence. Was he going to lose his son? Was his son going to die? What will happen? Will KD survive ? All these questions were flowing in his mind. He peeped inside the door of his son’s room where his son was unconscious, wearing an oxygen mask. Trying to stop his tears from falling, Mr.Dhanraj decided to do something that he had refused to do since a long time. He went back home , entered KD’s room, searched for his file and when the search was complete, started reading his write – ups. He was completely amazed and astonished. The brilliant writing brought about mixed feelings in him, he was filled with pride , realizing his son’s talent and also went through anguish, regretting how he never believed in it. He felt ashamed of himself that he could never give his son the satisfaction and happiness wanted by him and well deserved. ‘But now I will.’ – he thought, taking a decision that he should’ve taken long ago.
Back at the hospital , Mr.Dhanraj sat next to his son’s bed and slightly touched his shoulder . Without letting anybody speak, he started speaking out what he wanted to say, “ My son, I am extremely sorry. I was wrong. But now I have realized that your happiness is of utmost importance to me. I am sorry it took me so long to understand the desire of your soul. But now everything will be fine, my dear son. I have talked to a publisher and sent him your write – ups, which I must say are amazing. I am proud of you my son. You need not join my company, you will definitely get success, whether it be in the field of business or in writing. I’m sorry son. Forgive me please.” KD could not speak even a single word as he still had the oxygen mask on. Mr.Dhanraj badly needed to know what was going on in his mind.  Tears fell down from KD’s eyes and with a great effort indeed, he lifted his hand and put it on his father’s hand. That explained it all…”

“…and so, the story ends. Tell me princess, did you like it?”- said Muskaan’s dad. She was so engrossed in the story that throughout the story she didn’t even utter a single word, she simply couldn’t. By the end of the story her eyes were filled with tears.  “Daddy, is KD dead?”, she murmured trying to control her sobs. “No dear, he is right in front of you…” replied her dad…Kavish Dhanraj.
